Škoda Fabija sa 1.6T motorom je već testirana nekoliko puta (CZ, FIN) ali naravno izgledom je bila ista kao S2000.
Razlika osim u motoru i izgledu biće i u ceni, nova R5 bi trebala da košta oko 165.000eur, dok je S2000 za trećinu skuplja.

Mladá Boleslav, 27 January 2014 – Prepare for the future: this task is the main focus of the 2014 rally season for ŠKODA. A very special challenge awaits works drivers Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm (FIN/FIN) and the other duo Sepp Wiegand/Frank Christian (D/D) at their first competitive outing of the year in the European Rally Championship (ERC). The gravel roads of the Rally Latvia – the second of three races that form the ERC Ice Masters series – will put the drivers’ skill and nerves to the test from 31 January to 2 February. At the heart of matters at ŠKODA Motorsport this year, however, will be the development of the new Fabia R5.

“The first start of the season is always a special moment, and Latvia is uncharted territory for the entire team. However, I am obviously very much looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000. Last year we gained great experience and had some good results in the APRC, as well as in the ERC at the end of the year. We are obviously looking to follow on from that this year,” said Lappi. The flying Finn showed his ability and potential in the final two races of the ERC season, finishing runner-up at the iconic Rally Sanremo and clinching victory in Switzerland.

In the ERC, the two ŠKODA pairings of Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm and Sepp Wiegand/Frank Christian expect tougher opposition from other manufacturers’ new R 5 cars. The two ŠKODA crews will start at selected rounds of the European Championship. And the successful Fabia Super 2000 will proudly sport a cool new livery in 2014.

Sepp Wiegand, who is supported by ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland is also seen as a talented driver with a big future ahead of him. He finished fourth on his ERC debut for the ŠKODA works team at the Barum Rally in the Czech Republic – ŠKODA’s home race. Wiegand is now looking forward to the new challenge. “This is a new championship for us, and the majority of the routes are unfamiliar to us. That doesn’t matter though: we will put out foot down right from the word go.” Twelve special stages totalling over 240.56 kilometres await the two ŠKODA duos in Latvia. This year, the rally HQ is located in the Baltic port of Liepāja.

“The development of the new car for the R 5 category will take priority this year: that is our motorsport future,” said ŠKODA Motorsport Director Michal Hrabánek: “However, we will be in action at the races again this year, and with our tried and tested model that has proven so successful – the Fabia Super 2000.” It was with this rally car that Jan Kopecký and Pavel Dresler (CZ/CZ) won the European Championship title for ŠKODA last year. The successful duo will line up in the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) in 2014 – as will defending champions Gaurav Gill/Glenn Macneall (IND/NZ).

The new R 5 rally car is currently being developed in Mladá Boleslav as the successor to the extremely successful Fabia Super 2000 and is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo engine, in accordance with FIA regulations. “Entering the R 5 class is a logical step for ŠKODA. At this point in time, we are assuming that the new car will be homologated by mid-2015,” said Hrabánek.

Liepāja, 1 Februar 2014 – ŠKODA lead Rally Latvia after six of the twelve special stages. The ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 of Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm (FIN/FIN) is in first place going into the final day of the second round of the FIA European Rally Championship - 2.6 seconds ahead of local hero Vasily Gryazin (LAT). Their team-mates from ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland, Sepp Wiegand/Frank Christian (D/D), are currently in fifth after 137.82 kilometres of rallying (2.19.3 min. off the leaders).

“This was an exhausting day at a tough rally,” said Lappi. “In the morning we had to deal with unbelievably difficult conditions, as there was a lot of snow on the course. Therefore we had to be very careful. I’m sure this will also be the case on Sunday.”

Wiegand also suffered because of the slippery conditions of Saturday morning. “In the morning it was really difficult. It was so slippery that I ran the danger of losing control in the sharp corners,” Wiegand commented. “The second time round was much better. I had much more grip. I still wasn’t driving all out, but I was able to make up a few places.”

Rally Latvia will continue on Sunday. After a further 102.74 timed kilometres over six special stages, the winners of this year’s second round in the ERC will be known.

Liepāja, 2 Februar 2014 – ŠKODA have won their season debut in the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC). Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm (FIN/FIN) were triumphant in the ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000 at the second ERC event of the year in Latvia with a 34.7 seconds advantage over local hero Vasily Gryazin (LV). Their ŠKODA AUTO Deutschland team-mates, Sepp Wiegand/Frank Christian (D/D), took fifth place after completing the 240.56 stage kilometres (+3:16.1 min.).

“Janne and me are so happy,” said Lappi, who took seven of the twelve special stages in Latvia. After the 23-year-old Finn had taken the lead in the rally on Saturday evening, he was initially forced to surrender it back to Gryazin again. However, Lappi then drove clear of the competition and in the end he celebrated the third ERC victory of his yet nascent career.

“It was a new and very, very tough rally for us, even though we Finns love the snowy conditions,” Lappi continued. “Our competitors didn’t give us anything. He really had to fight to maintain a clean line. The Fabia Super 2000 is a fantastic car and performed flawlessly from the very first to the very last metre. The whole team deserve our thanks. It’s been very strenuous for everyone here amid these icy-cold conditions. We’re already looking forward to the next rally.”

Wiegand, who clinched the qualifying session for the snow rally around the Baltic Sea port of Liepāja on Friday, was able to defend his fifth spot on the final day. “This was a rally with highs and lows,” Wiegand commented. “We made a mistake with the start position, because we hadn’t counted on so much snowfall on Saturday. But in the later stages of the rally we made progress and demonstrated that we are able to hold our own among the best drivers.” The 23-year-old German emphasized this point by winning the penultimate special stage on Sunday.

ŠKODA Motorsport Director Michal Hrabánek added: “I congratulate Esapekka on his third ERC career victory. Once again he confirmed his unquestionable talent in Latvia. Sepp also deserves recognition for a good performance under really very tough conditions – especially on the first day. We can be satisfied with the start we’ve made to the rally season. However, priority for the whole of 2014 will go to the development of the new Fabia R5.” Rally Latvia was the second event in this season’s ERC. Because of the cancellation of Rally Romania, which was planned for the end of February, due the weather conditions, the legendary ‘Acropolis’ rally in Greece is next on the ERC programme from 28–30 March.

Proteklog vikenda reli tim petostrukog šampiona Srbije Vladice Rabrenovića obreo se u Hrvatskoj i Sloveniji na važnom zadatku. U saradnji sa slovenačkim timom IK Sport odrađeni su testovi Škodinog modela Fabija R2 sa ciljem da tim konačno prelomi u kom pravcu će dalje ići. I dok su Rabrenović i Radivojević za volanom brze trkalice „bespomučno“ jurcali tamo-amo uskim putevima Istre, glavni mehaničari Nenad Savić i Vladica Milojković su se trudili da što bolje proniknu u tehničke tajne češkog modela. Na kraju je odluka i doneta. Kakva, čućemo od prvog čoveka tima, nosioca Zlate kacige AMSS-a Vladice Rabrenovića ..
„Istini za volju u ovom trenutku su mi osećanja malo pomešana. Teška srca se opraštamo od Renault Clia klase N3 a istovremeno se radujem mnogo savremenijem modelu Škoda R2 i novom izazovu koji on nosi.“ – poručio je Rabrenović – „WRR Team je kao i uvek zajedno doneo odluku. Pre ovoga smo testirali i model Clia R3 ali nisu se sklopile sve kockice pa je odluka pala na Fabiju R2 i slovenački IK Sport u vlasništvu  braće Kacin kao partnera u sledećim sezonama. Posada ostaje ista a moji mehaničari će pomagati onima iz IK Sporta na samim takmičenjima. Kompletna logistika i održavanje Škode poverena je IK Sport-u tako da imamo više vremena za vožnju kojoj možemo u potpunosti da se posvetimo. Moram da izrazim žaljenje što jedan vrhunski automobil, kao što je moj Clio, nije ostao u Srbiji ali …
Prvi utisci o novom automobilu su više nego pozitivni – „Clio smo prerasli i tu više nije bilo nepoznanica a samim tim ni izazova. Želimo dalje da napredujemo i verujem da je ovo korak napred. Škoda je poslednja evolucija ovog modela i pruža puno zabave. Sezonu 2014 ćemo iskoristiti kao godinu za upoznavanje na nekoliko probranih relija a 2015-te planiramo učešće u nekoj međunarodnoj seriji tipa Mitropa KUP ili CEZ. Sigurno da ćemo se truditi da se pojavimo i pred domaćom publikom. Problem donekle prave i nova pravila FIA koja ne omogućavaju vozačima sa stranim licencama da se boduju u okviru domaćih šampionata, a svima je poznato da ja vozim sa licencom švedskog saveza.“
U narednih nekoliko nedelja tim će i zvanično objaviti program takmičenja za sezonu 2014.

za one koji malo manje prate ovu sportsku disciplinu, Vladica je pre 10tak godina vozio crvenu feliiju 1.3 koja je danas u vlasnistvu Mileta Cvjeticanina i i dalje se voziu domaem sampionatu (samo sto je on nesto postao veoma oskudan sa takmienjima)
