ŠKODA model range safer than ever
› New ŠKODA Fabia completes the ŠKODA range with top safety
› Safety for all: five-star Euro NCAP seal of approval for ŠKODA Fabia (2014), Octavia (2013), Rapid (2012), Citigo (2011), Yeti (2009), Superb (2008) and Roomster (2006)
› CSR: Comprehensive activities on the topic of road safety
Mladá Boleslav, 2 December 2014 – ŠKODA cars protect your passengers with top safety seal of approval. All seven ŠKODA model series have achieved the maximum five-star safety rating in the internationally recognised Euro NCAP crash tests in the course of their respective market launches, with the new ŠKODA Fabia being awarded five stars most recently in November. The universal top rating by Euro NCAP proves the high safety level of ŠKODA vehicles, and has been the result of intensive work to achieve maximum active and passive vehicle safety. In addition, the company engages various road safety initiatives as part of their social responsibility campaign.
“The safety of all passengers is ŠKODA’s top priority,” says ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development Dr. Frank Welsch. “This uncompromising standard applies across all classes of vehicles, from the city car ŠKODA Citigo to our flagship ŠKODA Superb. We are constantly working to improve the level of active and passive safety in our vehicles. This includes installing innovative assistance systems, as well as perfectly coordinated restraint systems, cutting-edge suspension technology, high-performance lighting systems and optimizing the body structures of our vehicles.”
ŠKODA employs around 1700 specialist designers, engineers and constructors in the Technical Development department. A considerable part of this work is directly or indirectly concerned with the technical issues of vehicle safety.
The new small car ŠKODA Fabia clearly demonstrates how much emphasis ŠKODA puts on safety systems. The third generation model offers a variety of safety innovations that had previously been reserved for higher vehicle segments. This means that the new ŠKODA Fabia features a safety level new to this segment, and is unmatched by any small car outside the Volkswagen Group.
The Front Assistant with integrated city emergency brake function celebrates its premiere in the new ŠKODA Fabia. The new Fabia also features a long list of additional safety features, such as multi-collision brakes, Driver Activity Assistant (fatigue detection), Speed Limiter, Hill Hold Control (assists drivers to start on an incline) and the electronic tyre pressure monitoring system. Other features available upon request include LED daytime running lights and fog lights with Cornering function.
As part of their respective market launches over recent years, all seven ŠKODA model series have been awarded the highest rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP Crash tests. The new ŠKODA Fabia received the top rating most recently in early November.
Other models to have achieved the five-star Euro NCAP status, include the ŠKODA Octavia (2013), ŠKODA Rapid (2012), ŠKODA Citigo (2011), ŠKODA Yeti (2009), ŠKODA Superb (2008) and ŠKODA Roomster (2006).
The high safety level of the ŠKODA models has been confirmed by independent experts. Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) is an independent consortium of European transport ministries, automobile associations, insurers and consumer advocates. The organization carries out crash tests with new automobile models, assessing safety according to the four categories of occupant protection for adults, child safety, pedestrian safety and supporting safety systems.
Innovative safety assistance systems
Safety assistance systems help to prevent accidents or mitigate their consequences for passengers and other road users. Over recent years, a number of new technologies have entered the ŠKODA model range. The Czech manufacturer has been able to successfully implement these systems thanks to the technology and modular transverse matrix (MQB) of the Volkswagen Group. As part of ŠKODA’s safety strategy, the brand currently offers the following security systems in various forms in each of the seven models in the series: Front Assistant, including City Emergency Braking, Multi-Collision Brake Feature, Adaptive Cruise Assistant (adaptive cruise control), Lane Assistant (lane keeping assistant), Intelligent Light Assistant (high-beam assist), Crew Protect Assistant (proactive passenger protection), Driver Activity Assistant (fatigue detection), Traffic Sign Recognition and electronic tyre pressure monitoring system.
Best passive safety with safety package
In order to best protect the passengers in the event of a collision, all ŠKODA models are equipped with a comprehensive, perfectly tuned safety package. Depending on the model, this can include up to nine airbags (Superb, Octavia and Yeti), height adjustable 3-point seat belts with pretensioners and safety headrests. Specifically optimized body structures provide very good deformation characteristics in a collision, and ensure that as much energy as possible is absorbed and the passenger compartment remains stable.
Social commitment to increased safety
In addition to the safety of their vehicles, the Czech manufacturer is particularly keen on the issue of road safety in general, which forms a substantial part of ŠKODA’s comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
For many years, the can manufacturer has been supporting numerous projects surrounding this topic throughout the Czech Republic. Since 2013, ŠKODA has been the main partner of the road safety portal ‘Bezpečné cesty’ (Safe Journeys). At
www.bezpecnecesty.cz
, road users and pedestrians can get important and clear information on the issue of road safety, and find tips on the best ways to behave on the road. ŠKODA provides specific information, findings and their expertise from their safety and accident research; they also give their specialist input and provide specific illustrative material in the form of texts and films.
The Internet educational programme ‘Playful ŠKODA’ gives kids a fun way to learn about how to behave near roads and urban areas. The nationwide competition ‘Ways through Cities’, which has been running for the past eleven years with ŠKODA’s support, shows which methods are most effective in reducing traffic in Czech cities and towns. The company regularly organizes events, such as ‘Safe in the Car’ and ‘Road Safety Days’ in association with the Integrated Rescue System of the Czech Republic. In the regions of ŠKODA production sites, ŠKODA AUTO has supported ten other road safety projects last year alone.
The company is also actively engaged in accident research, in which ŠKODA works in close cooperation with transport police, fire brigade, ambulance services and hospitals, and other government and private sector organizations.

Milestone achieved: For the first time ŠKODA produces 1 million vehicles in one year
› The jubilee car is a ŠKODA Fabia 1.2 TSI/81 kW in Moon-white
› Success story: ŠKODA sales increase six-fold since 1991
› Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland: “ŠKODA will continue to grow”
Mladá Boleslav, 10 December 2014 – This is the first time in corporate history that ŠKODA has produced more than one million vehicles in a calendar year. Today at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav, the jubilee car – a ŠKODA Fabia 1.2 TSI/81 kW in moon-white – rolled of the production line. By achieving the milestone of manufacturing one million vehicles in a single year, the Czech carmaker reaffirms their international growth strategy.
“For the first time in the 119-year history of our company, ŠKODA has today crossed the magic threshold of one million vehicles produced in a single year,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “A milestone for the brand that the whole team can be proud of. We will not become complacent about this success. ŠKODA will continue to grow.”
The most comprehensive model campaign in ŠKODA’s history has formed the basis for the growth in production and sales. Since 2010, the Czech manufacturer has comprehensively renewed their model range, and expanded in key areas, particularly at the main ŠKODA plant in Mladá Boleslav – the heart of ŠKODA’s global production network. “The figure of one million vehicles produced this year demonstrates the strength of our Czech and international production sites and the skill of our all production teams,” explains Michael Oeljeklaus, ŠKODA Board Member for Production and Logistics. “We plan to further modernise and expand ŠKODA’s production over the coming years.”
The milestone in production achieved today once again emphasises the outstanding development of the Czech carmaker, especially over the last two decades. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain and joining the Volkswagen Group in April 1991, ŠKODA has recorded a six-fold increase in sales. The rapid resurgence of the legendary automobile brand has indeed been impressive – from the company’s roots in the heart of Europe to an internationally successful manufacturer with currently seven model series and over 40 model variants. From producing only one model in 1991 – the Favorit – ŠKODA today offers the largest and most attractive product range of all time.
An important pillar of the growth over recent years has been the development of new markets beyond Europe. In the early ‘90s, the Czech brand was still unilaterally focused on the domestic market and the Central and Eastern European countries. Nowadays, ŠKODA sells their products in over 100 countries around the world. China has been the brand’s strongest individual market since 2010. In the first eleven months of this year alone, sales on the Chinese market accounted for a quarter of ŠKODA’s total.
Against this background, ŠKODA is putting increasing emphasis on local production in the world’s key growth markets in addition to expanding capacities at home as part of their international growth strategy. In China, the Czechs operate at the sites in Anting, Yizheng and Ningbo in partnership with Shanghai Volkswagen (SVW). To date, more than 1.3 million ŠKODA vehicles have been produced at the SVW plants for the Chinese market. This year ŠKODA has doubled their Chinese product range to six locally produced models. In Russia, the production of ŠKODA models takes place at Nizhniy Novgorod and Kaluga. In India, ŠKODA vehicles run off the production lines in Pune and Aurangabad. ŠKODAs are also manufactured in Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
Milestones in ŠKODA AUTO production:
› 10 December 2014: ŠKODA manufactures the millionth vehicle in 2014, achieving for the first time one million vehicles produced in a single calendar year
› 19 March 2014: 11 million ŠKODA cars produced at the Mladá Boleslav plant
› 26 August 2013: 4 million ŠKODA Octavias
› 9 July 2013: 1 million ŠKODA cars produced in China since 2007
› 5 February 2013: 15 million ŠKODA cars produced since 1905
› 30 January 2012: 14 million ŠKODA cars produced since 1905
› 12 October 2011: 10 million ŠKODA cars produced at the Mladá Boleslav plant
› 8 April 2009: 12 million ŠKODA cars produced since 1905
› 13 July 2006: 10 million ŠKODA cars produced since 1905
› 1991: 5 million ŠKODA cars produced since 1905

ŠKODA: Production launch for new Fabia Combi
› Production at ŠKODA’s Mladá Boleslav plant; Market launch January 2015
› Setting new standards in space, practicality, connectivity and eco-friendliness
› Emotive and functional: Fresh design, 17 Simply Clever solutions
Mladá Boleslav, 15 December 2014 – The series production of the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi has been launched at ŠKODA’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The ŠKODA Fabia Combi is the most popular model in its segment. The completely redeveloped third generation is once again setting standards in terms of space, functionality and eco-friendliness. The new design is expressive and emotive. In addition, the model features advanced safety, comfort and infotainment systems from higher vehicle classes, including the new MirrorLink- and SmartGate technology to connect the vehicle to your smartphone. The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi will be launched on the first markets in January 2015.
“The production launch of the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is a key element of our comprehensive model campaign,” explains ŠKODA Board Member for Production and Logistics, Michael Oeljeklaus. “As the best-selling vehicle in its segment, the Fabia Combi is a pillar of the ŠKODA growth strategy. With its outstanding features, it has everything to attract new consumer groups for both the model and the brand.”
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is being launched just weeks after the sales premiere of the Fabia hatchback model. The carmaker has undertaken extensive adaptation and modernization work at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav for the series production of the new Fabia model, which has included establishing a new, ultramodern facility to configure new assistance systems, and also renewing certain areas of the paint shop.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi offers plenty of space for up to five passengers and their luggage even with the car’s compact exterior dimensions. The boot has the capacity in its segment at 530 litres (1395 litres with the rear seat folded down). In addition, the third-generation model is more practical than ever with up to 17 Simply Clever solutions, ten of which are on offer in the estate version for the first time.
The design of the new small car is significantly more emotive than before. Just as the hatchback version, the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi features a modern, sharp design language, dynamic proportions, as well as design elements from the ŠKODA VisionC show car. Precise lines and sharp edges testify to the highest production quality and attention to detail. Crystalline elements and the striking interplay between light and shadow emphasize the strong appearance. The interior has also been completely redesigned, and offers an array of customization options.
From higher vehicle classes, the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi now features innovative safety, comfort and infotainment systems, including the innovative MirrorLink technology, displaying smartphone apps, such as sat-nav on the infotainment system screen. The SmartGate function is also new. The technology enables data on the vehicle to be displayed and saved on your smartphone by using special apps.
The small car sets new standards in terms of consumption and CO2 emissions. The new Fabia Combi consumes up to 17% less fuel than the second generation model. The most economical version will be the new Fabia Combi GreenLine, to be launched in the second half of 2015, with the fantastic consumption of 3.1 l/100 and CO2 emissions of only 82 g/km.
The ŠKODA Fabia Combi has been a major player in the ŠKODA model range since 2000. To date (30.11.2014), the manufacturer has sold more than 1.1 million to customers internationally, making the ŠKODA Fabia Combi the best-selling vehicle in its class.

Success: ŠKODA produces 500,000th third-generation Octavia
› In a class of its own: the third-generation Octavia is a great success
› Octavia deliveries in Western Europe increased by around a quarter in 2014
› Octavia series: versatile as never before
› International success: production in Europe, China, Russia and India
› Success steeped in tradition:, morethan 4.46 million Octavias delivered since 1996
Mladá Boleslav, 15 December 2014 – ŠKODA produced the 500,000th third-generation Octavia today. The anniversary vehicle – an Octavia GreenLine in white colour – rolled off the ŠKODA production line in Mladá Boleslav. The third-generation Octavia, launched at the beginning of 2012, is in a class of its own and has proven to be a great hit on the market. In Western Europe, sales of the successful model had increased more than a quarter by the end of November this year.
“Producing half a million Octavias in less than two years reinforces how well the car has been received on the international markets. As the ‘heart of the brand’, the ŠKODA Octavia is the central pillar of our Growth strategy. Over the coming years, we plan to continue growing and inspire new customer groups with the Octavia and the attractive ŠKODA model range,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing.
The third generation sets standards in its class and is the largest, safest, lightest, most comfortable, practical and environmentally-friendly Octavia ever. In addition, Octavia series is versatile as never before. The Octavia saloon and estate are now available with front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Plus, the ŠKODA Octavia RS is the fastest production Octavia of all time. The particularly environmentally-friendly ŠKODA Octavia GreenLine consumes only 3.2 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres (CO2 emissions: 85g/km). The ŠKODA Octavia G-TEC with CNG drive, as well as the ŠKODA Octavia Scout, a rugged all-rounder with strong off-road capabilities, debuted in 2014. In addition, the exclusive trim derivate ŠKODA Octavia L&K is available in Europe.
With its wide range of derivates and excellent features, the ŠKODA Octavia has been a great hit on the markets. By the end of November of this year, sales of the Octavia in Western Europe had increased 24.7 percent, setting new records in several countries. The model is one of the most award-winning vehicles in its class, and has come out on top in a number of comparison tests.
So far this year in Central Europe, deliveries of the Octavia have increased more than 20 percent. In the Czech Republic, Hungary, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland, during the first eleven months of the year, the Octavia was the most sold new car of the month.
In addition to the production in the Czech Republic, the ŠKODA Octavia also rolls of production lines in China, Russia, India, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. As ŠKODA’s largest individual market, China plays a central role for the brand and the model. The ŠKODA Octavia was launched on the Chinese market in mid-2014. In November 2014, the model successfully achieved a sales increase of 112.4% on the Chinese market.
The Octavia is the most important model in ŠKODA’s international growth strategy, and is the driving force of the most comprehensive product campaign in ŠKODA’s history. Over the coming years, the manufacturer intends to increase worldwide sales to at least 1.5 million vehicles annually.
Like no other model, the Octavia symbolises ŠKODA’s rapid rise to success over the past two decades. Its introduction in 1996 kick-started their development into an international manufacturer with a presence on over 100 markets worldwide. Till the end of November, 4.46 million Octavias have been delivered to customers worldwide since 1996. This represents almost 40% of all the brand’s sales during this time.

ŠKODA celebrates a double million
› ŠKODA produces and sells 1 million vehicles for the first time in one year
› Large anniversary event for employees and other guests at ŠKODA Museum
› Millionth vehicle produced: ŠKODA Fabia 1.2 TSI/81 kW goes to 'Life for Children' foundation
› One millionth vehicle delivered, a ŠKODA Octavia RS in 2014 goes to Czech customer
› Manufacturer achieves key milestone in growth strategy
Mladá Boleslav, 18 December 2014 – Producing and delivering one million ŠKODA cars in a single year is a milestone for the Czech manufacturer, and reaffirms their international growth strategy. ŠKODA honoured the team’s outstanding contribution to the successful development over recent years by hosting the ‘Million Celebration’ at the ŠKODA Museum.
The one millionth ŠKODA vehicle produced this year ran off the production lines at the main ŠKODA plant in Mladá Boleslav on 10 December: ŠKODA Fabia 1.2 TSI/81 kW in moon-white. The manufacturer has donated the anniversary car to the ‘Life for Children’ foundation. The keys were handed over yesterday evening at a ceremony in Mladá Boleslav. ŠKODA employees voted on which charity would be the worthiest recipient of the ‘million vehicle’. There were ten organisations to choose from in total.
In addition, the millionth ŠKODA customer of 2014 from the Czech Republic was welcomed during the festivities. He had ordered a ŠKODA Octavia Combi RS, 2.0 TSI in rally-green metallic, and the keys were handed over to him by the Rally Champion Jan Kopecky.
“Each 1 million vehicles produced and sold are historical milestones and demonstrate the strength of the brand,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. hc Winfried Vahland. “ŠKODA has achieved a new dimension and is firmly established as an international volume manufacturer. This success can be attributed to our model campaign, and the great performance of our 26,000 employees worldwide. The whole team is very proud of this achievement. At the same time, achieving this million in production and sales will spur us on to pick up the pace over the coming years.”
ŠKODA growth strategy is successful
By achieving one million in production and sales in 2014, the manufacturer is once again flying the banner high and highlighting their growth at the end of the year. At the heart of the growth strategy is the most comprehensive model campaign in the 119-year history of the company. Since 2010, the brand has been extensively renewing their model range and branching out into important segments – from the small ŠKODA Citigo to the new ŠKODA Fabia introduced just a few weeks ago.
“We offer the most attractive and modern ŠKODA model range of all time,” says Winfried Vahland. The model campaign’s success is reflected in the sales figures: Between 2010 and December 2014, ŠKODA’s deliveries increased by over 30%, making ŠKODA one of the world’s fastest growing volume brands.
The company’s development over the past two decades is one of the great success stories in the automotive industry. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain and joining the VW Group in April 1991, ŠKODA’s production and sales have increased six-fold. With this came the resurgence of one of the longest-established automotive brands. ŠKODA's origins date back to the pioneering days of the car in 1895. In its rich history, the company has always delighted customers with legendary cars like the ŠKODA 860 and ŠKODA Popular Monte Carlo.
In addition to expanding the model range, one important pillar of the implemented growth strategy is entering new markets beyond Europe. Nowadays, ŠKODAs are available in over 100 countries around the world. China has been the brand’s strongest individual market since 2010, where in the first eleven months of 2014 around one quarter of all ŠKODAs produced have been sold.

› Strong appearance: expressive, elegant, dynamic, discrete and modern
› Striking: design elements from the ‘Škoda VisionC’ coupé study
Mladá Boleslav, 22 December 2014 – The new ŠKODA Superb revolutionises the familiar ŠKODA design language. A new sketch shows an expressively designed saloon full of class and passion. The design is sophisticated, elegant, dynamic, discrete, modern and expressive.
The new ŠKODA flagship has striking, expressive shapes from the ‘Škoda VisionC’ show car with new, dynamic proportions. From the front to the rear, from the large wheels to the gently rearward sloping roof line, the new Superb captivates with clear geometry, strikingly contoured surfaces, sculptural shapes, purist precision and elegant lines as if made from one piece.
With its expressive exterior, the ŠKODA top model gained in stature and makes a visual impact in the automotive mid-class segment – with a sharp and muscular cut, more poised and full of emotion than ever before. New ŠKODA Fabia: Class leader in the Euro NCAP crash tests
› The ŠKODA Fabia achieved the highest score in its class in the 2014 Euro NCAP Crash Test, and was the only one of 14 small cars tested to get five stars
› Outstanding passenger protection for adults and children
› Innovative safety systems, six airbags fitted as standard in EU countries
› ŠKODA model range safer than ever
Mladá Boleslav, 9 January 2015 – The new ŠKODA Fabia is the safest small car according to the latest Euro NCAP crash tests. Back in November 2014, the new ŠKODA model achieved the highest score in its segment, becoming the only one of 14 small cars to get five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests. The Euro NCAP evaluation is based on the results in the categories of passenger protection for adults and children, pedestrian protection, and supporting safety systems.
“With innovative safety systems and a comprehensive safety package, our new model is setting standards in its segment. Receiving the award for being the safest small car in the Euro NCAP crash tests confirms this once again,” says Dr. Frank Welsch, ŠKODA Board Member for Technical Development.
The new ŠKODA Fabia was awarded the best rating of five stars by Euro NCAP in all four evaluation categories (passenger protection for adults, child safety, safety assistance systems and pedestrian protection). The evaluators appreciated the stability of the passenger compartment in particular. The maximum possible score was given for the protection of infants up to 18 months. The safety of children up to three years of also received a high rating.
The new ŠKODA Fabia has been available on the first European markets since mid-November 2014. The third generation of the model has won over customers with its expressive design, outstanding eco-friendliness and great technology for increased safety and comfort. The response so far from the media, customers and dealers has been very positive. The first comparison tests carried out by the leading trade magazines put the small car way out in front.
The new ŠKODA Fabia features safety innovations previously reserved for vehicles from higher classes. The latest version of the model now has the option of Front Assistant with integrated City Emergency Brake function. The system uses a radar to constantly measure the distance to the vehicle in front, and intervenes if the car is too close. This is also the first time for the ŠKODA Fabia to feature multi-collision brakes, reducing the risk of a subsequent crash following a collision in the road. Furthermore, the new ŠKODA Fabia now comes with the optional Driver Activity Assistant (fatigue recognition). Other safety systems include the speed limiter, Hill Hold Control and the electronic tyre pressure monitoring system.
The perfectly harmonized safety package in the new ŠKODA Fabia provides the best possible protection in the event of an accident. Up to six airbags – front, side and head airbags – protect passengers in a collision in combination with five three-point seat belts. A high-strength body and specifically optimized body-deformation zones form the basis of the increased passive safety.
The new ŠKODA Fabia completes ŠKODA’s range of vehicles with the highest safety rating: All seven of the brand’s current model series have received five stars in the Euro NCAP tests at their launch – from the Citigo to the Superb. The top ratings have been the result of the company’s extensive efforts to achieve maximal active and passive vehicle safety.
Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) is an independent consortium of European transport ministries, automobile associations, insurers and consumer advocates. The organization performs crash tests on new types of vehicle, assessing their safety.

Mladá Boleslav/Nice, January 2015 – With the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi, the Czech car manufacturer makes its mark early on in the 2015 new car year. Just a few weeks after the debut of the ŠKODA Fabia hatchback edition, the brand is firing up the next stage in their current model campaign. In the third-generation model, the ŠKODA Fabia Combi once again sets new standards in terms of space. The new design has a striking, emotionally-rich design language, coupled with state-of-the-art MQB-based vehicle technology from Volkswagen Group. This includes innovative safety, comfort and infotainment systems that are usually seen in higher-class vehicle segments or the completely new engine technology with EU6-compliant emission values. A highlight: with the MirrorLink™ function (as soon as made available by the manufacturers, also via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) and the SmartGate system, the car can be paired with a smartphone. The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi will be available in Europe from mid-January 2015.
“The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is the perfect combination of space, functionality, technology and emotionally-rich design,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “A modern, fresh car that stands for ŠKODA’s best brand values. It has the largest interior space in the small estate car segment and extensively meets the increased requirements for connectivity and customisation,” says Prof. Dr. Vahland.
The new Fabia Combi will be available in the first European markets from as early as mid-January. With this new edition, the Czech manufacturer intends to build further on the success of its popular all-rounder. Since 2000, the small car has been an integral part of ŠKODA’s model range. To date (as of 31.12.2014) ŠKODA has delivered more than 1.1 million ŠKODA Fabia Combis to customers. This makes the ŠKODA Fabia Combi the best-selling model within its class.
Since its introduction, the ŠKODA Fabia Combi has embodied all good ŠKODA qualities: lots of space within compact outer dimensions, many practical solutions, low fuel consumption, well-engineered technology and excellent value for money. This combination makes it a bestseller in its category.
Excellent space: the largest boot capacity in its segment
Compact on the outside, the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi sets new standards in terms of interior space. It provides plenty of space for up to five occupants and their luggage. The passenger compartment has gained in both width (increase of 21 mm) and length (increased by 8 mm).
The 530 litre boot capacity (1,395 litres with the back seat folded down) is the largest in its segment. The basic volume has been increased by 25 litres compared to its predecessor.
The Fabia Combi is more flexible than before. The rear seats can be folded down in two stages: the seat is folded first and then the backrest. This increases the flexibility of the interior. Items up to 1.55 m long can fit into the car. The loading area is 960 mm wide, 2 mm wider than in the previous model. The tailgate is set lower down than before. Therefore the loading sill is only 611 mm high, in comparison to the second-generation model it is 26 mm lower. The tailgate opens to 1,900 mm high and is 1,028 mm wide.
Emotion: a crisp, dynamic design
The new emotionally-rich design of the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is the perfect addition to its outstanding functionality. As the hatchback model, the new Fabia Combi captivates with elements from the ŠKODA VisionC show car, sporty proportions and modern, crisp design language. In short: pure dynamism.
Precise lines and sharp edges are evidence of high-quality manufacturing and accurate workmanship. In addition, the car features a distinctive interplay of light and shade and the use of crystalline shapes.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is 10 mm longer, 90 mm wider and 31 mm lower than its predecessor. The front is identical to the new Fabia hatchback model and appears more assured and imposing thanks to the added width and strong emphasis on horizontal lines. Distinctive elements are the razor-sharp, wide headlights, the crystalline glass cut, the characteristic slatted grille and the brand’s logo on the bonnet’s ‘nose’. The designers highlighted the graphic unity of the grille and the lights, precisely marking out all lines and edges such as in the two distinctive swage lines running from the outside to the inside of the bonnet.
The side view. The car’s sleek silhouette is as if it were made from one piece, the whole side view is extremely dynamic. An effect created by a crisp tornado line and the wing line marking the side of the car as well as the slim pillars, the interplay of light and shade, the gently rearward sloping roof line and the completely new, attractive range of wheels.
The rear of the ŠKODA Fabia Combi is clean, tidy and unmistakable with yet another emphasis on horizontal lines. The tail lights in the typical ŠKODA C-shape have contrasting dark edging and intricate detail in the style of Czech glass-making tradition.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi has ample scope for individual configuration. The car’s all-new interior impresses with quality, precise workmanship, an emphasis on horizontal lines and a wide array of colours and colour combinations.
Connectivity at its best with MirrorLink™, CarPlay and Android Auto as well as SmartGate
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi has completely new infotainment systems. The technology is based on Volkswagen’s Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB) allowing a whole series of attractive uses which are ground-breaking for the small car class. A touchscreen display with swipe operation is available for the first time. Customers can choose between four infotainment systems, also including the integrated Amundsen radio navigation system.
Thanks to MirrorLink™ technology, the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi can easily be connected to a smartphone, allowing the driver to run and display selected smartphone applications (apps) on the screen of the Bolero and Amundsen infotainment systems. As soon as the relevant interfaces are available from the manufacturers, Apple devices (via Apple CarPlay) and Android smartphones (via Android Auto) will also be able to be connected.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi also comes with the SmartGate function, enabling display, storage and use of certain vehicle data in some apps. ŠKODA’s newly-designed Drive App, for instance, can show drivers how efficient their driving style has been for any trip they have taken. The MFA Pro App lets users display on-board computer functions and multifunction display (MFA) content on their smartphones. Further apps complete the range.
New benchmarks in terms of efficiency and emissions: CO2 output from 82 g/km
The new Fabia Combi is more environmentally friendly than ever before with fuel consumption reduced by up to 17 per cent compared to the second-generation model. Fuel consumption is now, at its best, down to 3.1 l/100 km and CO2emissions are just 82 g/km in the ŠKODA Fabia Combi GreenLine (available in the second half of 2015).
These significant improvements are the result of a completely new generation of petrol and diesel engines, radical weight reduction down to 1,004 kg and improved aerodynamics.
These excellent results are due to Volkswagen’s innovative MQB technology. In total, the ŠKODA Fabia Combi is available in three petrol and three diesel engines. All six engines comply with EU6 emission standards and come with a Start-Stop System and brake energy recovery. Power output in the petrol engines ranges from 55 kW (75 PS) to 81 kW (110 PS). The new three-cylinder diesel range offers between 55 kW (75 PS) and 77 kW (105 PS). Transmissions are modern manual or automatic DSG gearboxes.
Special attention has been placed on developing a comfortable chassis. Finely-adjusted interplay between the new electro-mechanical steering, the new engines and the redesigned engine mounting has enabled designers to noticeably improve the chassis setup. Driving comfort and ride stability reach a new level of quality.
The model benefits not least from a 30 mm wider front track (rear track by 31 mm) and a 5 mm longer wheelbase. The vehicle design of the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is based on a modular concept, drawing for the most part on Volkswagen’s MQB technology, including new engines, electro-mechanical steering, a large part of the electrics (such as control units), the instrument cluster as well as infotainment and assistance systems.
Despite additional technology and comfort, the new ŠKODA Fabia Combi’s weight is significantly reduced compared to the second-generation model, weighing by up to 61 kg less (depending on vehicle configuration). The ŠKODA Fabia Combi with a 1.0 MPI three-cylinder engine has a kerb weight (without the driver) of just 1,004 kg.
MQB technology for active and passive safety; systems from higher vehicle classes
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi impresses with its high level of safety. Thanks to Volkswagen Group’s MQB technology, the model has safety systems from higher vehicle classes. The optional Front Assistant with integrated Emergency Braking Function, which automatically brings the vehicle to a complete stop, reduces the risk of rear-end collisions. The Multi-Collision Braking System will automatically slow the car down after an accident to prevent a follow-on collision.
The Driver Activity Assistant will detect fatigue of the driver, while the new Speedlimiter can prevent the car from exceeding a pre-set speed. Hill-Hold Control will help drivers start on a gradient. Also, the new Fabia Combi comes with an electronic tyre pressure monitor as standard in EU countries.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi has the enhanced electronic differential lock function XDS+ as standard, which maximises traction when cornering.
Passive safety elements include six airbags, which come as standard in EU countries, for finely adjusted interaction with the car’s three-point seatbelts.
Innovative comfort systems
The third-generation ŠKODA Fabia Combi offers a new level of comfort. A first in the model is KESSY (Keyless Entry Start and Exit System), the automatic locking and starting system. Front and rear parking sensors also make a debut in Fabia. Previously, this technology was only available for the rear of the Fabia.
The Rain/Light Assistant ensures optimum visibility with integrated sensors for rain and ambient light. The rain sensor automatically controls the windshield wipers’ frequency, while the light sensor switches the low beams on and off depending on light conditions.
Making its debut in the ŠKODA Fabia Combi is the new C-EPS (Column Electric Power Steering), which saves weight as well as fuel, and replaces the electro-hydraulic power steering used previously.
For the first time, customers can order the ŠKODA Fabia Combi with a large panoramic glass roof which adds to the ‘feel-good’ factor on board.
The latest-generation air conditioning with control on an MQB basis also offers optimum comfort. Both manual air conditioning and fully-automatic Climatronic climate control are available. In comparison to the technology used in previous Fabia variants, this new Climatronic system is considerably more efficient.
Up to 17 ‘Simply Clever’ solutions
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi not only has plenty of space but is also more practical and clever than ever before. Up to 17 ‘Simply Clever’ solutions make life that little bit easier in the Fabia Combi, ten of them are new in this model.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi is available with an adjustable false boot floor as an optional extra. The new MirrorLink™ technology brings smartphone apps including navigation to the infotainment system’s display. With the SmartGate function and using specially designed applications (apps), certain vehicle data can be displayed, saved and accessed on the user’s smartphone.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi now features an ice scraper in the fuel filler flap as standard and also has a new multimedia device cradle in the cup holder located in the centre console. The high-vis vest has a convenient dedicated storage compartment in the driver’s door. A waste bin is available for the side door. Storage nets on the inside edges of the front seats will hold miscellaneous small items.
The new model offers more room for drinks bottles. Both rear doors will now hold a 0.5-litre bottle. An additional 1.0-litre bottle will fit in the glove compartment.
The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi also offers new ‘Simply Clever’ features that proved themselves invaluable in the car’s second generation. The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi has a removable cover with a practical retractable function for the boot. Also available in the boot are two bag hooks. In the Fabia Combi, the optional Net Programme comprises of three storage nets (2 vertical, 1 horizontal) to keep the boot space tidy. In addition, an optional flexible storage compartment for the boot is offered. The driver can insert a parking ticket into the standard ticket holder situated on the inside of the left-hand A-pillar. Another ‘Simply Clever’ feature is the corner light function of the fog lamps.

ŠKODA Fabia is made into an ‘Art Car’
› Graffiti artist Armando Gomes designs ŠKODA Fabia ‘Street Art’
› Unique, full of emotion, colourful: ŠKODA Fabia as a work of art
› Joint art project with international lifestyle journalists
› New Fabia: crisp appearance, perfect for modern, urban mobility
Mladá Boleslav, 16 January 2015 – The new ŠKODA Fabia provides much more scope for customisation than ever before. With 125 colour combinations, there are almost no limits to the customers’ wishes. The Czech manufacturer now presents a very special, creative interpretation of its new small car: the ŠKODA Fabia Street Art. For this purpose, the Portuguese graffiti artist Armando Gomes has turned a vehicle into a unique, multi-coloured work of art on four wheels.
“The new ŠKODA Fabia is more emotionally-rich than ever before and is the perfect car for the modern, urban mobility of today,” says Werner Eichhorn, ŠKODA Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “The creation of the vehicle as a work of art underlines the brand’s aspirations for emotional resonance. We are really pleased about our collaboration with the renowned graffiti artist Armando Gomes. This fresh and unusual project demonstrates that we are conducting our model campaign with new, creative ideas,” says Eichhorn. The art project took place in Lisbon at the end of October as part of the new ŠKODA Fabia’s international presentation to the press.
The ŠKODA Fabia Street Art was created in several stages. To begin with, Armando Gomes laid the groundwork by applying the lines and geometrical shapes to the body of the car. The surfaces were then sprayed in different colours. At this stage, the artist was supported by international lifestyle journalists who could test the new Fabia as part of the presentation.
The Portuguese artist Armando Jorge Aires da Costa Gomes is regarded as one of the most significant graffiti artists in the world. The 31-year-old lives and works in Lisbon. The Portuguese graffiti artist also works as a designer, illustrator and film producer.
The new ŠKODA Fabia is the latest ‘coup’ within ŠKODA’s biggest model campaign of all time. The third-generation Fabia is to further strengthen the brand’s success within international markets. The completely newly developed small car offers ‘more car’ in every respect and sets standards in its class. The new Fabia has been available in the first European markets for a few weeks. The new ŠKODA Fabia Combi follows these days.
As the brand’s first production model, the new Fabia demonstrates the evolution of the ŠKODA design language into a more expressive and more emotionally-charged design. Great emphasis has also been placed on individuality. The new Fabia hatchback is available in 15 colours. Based on a cleverly-devised colour concept, up to 125 different colour combinations can be chosen for the roof, A-pillars, wing mirror caps and wheels.

ŠKODA produces 17,000,000th vehicle
› Jubilee car is a ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback
› Growth: ŠKODA deliveries increase six-fold since 1991
› Model campaign: ŠKODA product range comprehensively expanded and renewed
› Start of a new era: New ŠKODA Superb launch mid-2015
Mladá Boleslav, 30 January 2015 – ŠKODA has produced their 17 millionth vehicle. The jubilee car – a ŠKODA Rapid Spaceback in ‚Corrida Red’ – ran off the production line at the ŠKODA headquarters in Mladá Boleslav. The vehicle is going to a customer in Germany. This production milestone is a highlight of the Czech carmaker’s successful growth strategy. In 2014 ŠKODA manufactured and sold more than 1 million cars for the first time during a single year in the company’s 120-year history. Over the coming years, ŠKODA plans to increase sales to at least 1.5 million per year.
“ŠKODA is doing extremely well,” says ŠKODA CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “Producing 17 million vehicles since 1905 demonstrates the brand’s strength and sustained success. Since 1991, when ŠKODA joined forces with Volkswagen, we have manufactured more than 12 million cars. Now, we can definitely say we are established in the ‘Champions League’ of international volume manufacturers. ŠKODA will continue to grow over the coming years with new models.”
ŠKODA is one of the longest-established vehicle manufacturing companies in the world. Automobile production began in 1905: In that year, the ŠKODA founders Laurin and Klement built their first automobile in Mladá Boleslav, a Voiturette A. Since then, the company has produced 17 million vehicles at their Czech and international plants.
ŠKODA has made incredible progress especially since joining the Volkswagen Group in 1991. The rapid resurgence of the legendary automobile brand has indeed been impressive – from the company’s roots in the heart of Europe to an internationally successful manufacturer with currently seven model series and over 40 model variants. In 2014 ŠKODA achieved the magic threshold of producing and selling one million vehicles in a single year for the first time in the company’s history. Global sales in 2014 reached a new record of 1.04 million vehicles delivered.
“We are not going to become complacent; we are picking up the pace,” says Prof. Vahland. Over the coming years, the company plans to increase annual car sales to at least 1.5 million. The main driving force behind the growth strategy is ŠKODA’s most comprehensive model campaign of all time. Since 2011, the brand’s model range has been comprehensively renewed and has expanded into important segments. The most recent addition is the new ŠKODA Fabia that has been setting standards in the small car class since its launch a few months ago. As early as mid-February, ŠKODA will be introducing the new ŠKODA Superb. ŠKODA’s completely redeveloped flagship heralds in a new era for the brand and is and will be the best ŠKODA ever. The market launch is set for early June this year.
The manufacturer has implemented their growth strategy not only in Europe but also in the international growth markets. The Chinese market, in particular, is playing a key role. In 2014 China was once again ŠKODA strongest individual market with a 27% share of total sales.
The company’s international orientation is also demonstrated in their global production network, which has expanded significantly over recent years. ŠKODA vehicles are currently produced at 13 production locations in the Czech Republic, China, Russia, India, Slovakia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Over the coming years, the Czech carmaker plans to increase their production capacities further.
